Do you think that learning a foreign language is a difficult and super-serious task that you can cope with only by mastering all the language formulas and grammar rules, preferably also in courses? This is not quite so.
It’s true to have a teacher to guide and help organize the material, but really any exposure to the language you’re learning, even in a fan format, will benefit our brains.
Therefore, I suggest that you learn English in a fun and almost invisible way.
- Translate your gadgets into English
This is supposed to be a very common topic, but it really works – you will not even notice how you learn all the functions of the phone or computer, although at first it may seem like a difficult task.
- Play games in English.
This is one of the easiest and most fun ways to increase your vocabulary. Just by downloading Bettilt App, you will have the opportunity to play various games and have fun learning English while playing. In addition, you can play online with native English speakers and directly improve both listening and speaking English.
- Install apps to practice English words or grammar
In this way, you can imperceptibly learn English in your free time in a playful way. There are many such applications now, one of the most famous is Duolingo.
- Search for news in English
There are even sites where you can read or listen to news specifically tailored to your level. That is, the same news is presented in several versions and also with selected new words and tasks for them.
- Make it a habit to learn at least 3-5 new words every day
Don’t just read them, but practice them throughout the day — practice saying the words out loud (even to yourself) or make sentences with them in your mind. Here are some useful apps for learning new words: Memrise, Quizlet
- Listen to songs in English
Here, the range of activities is very wide: print out the words of the song and follow the voice, sing along, choose key words and learn them (by the way, if you sing along with the words, they will be better remembered).
- Watch videos or listen to podcasts in English.
Watching your favorite movies / TV series, videos on YouTube, as well as podcasts very well develop the perception of a foreign language by ear. It is best to choose topics that really interest you. It can be speeches at TED, various interviews, and lectures. Just imagine: in the morning, while you are going to work or having breakfast, you can learn new information, even in English. For example, you can find movies and series in English here: Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video, there is a library of movies on YouTube as well.
- Read fairy tales in English
The language in children’s books is quite easy, and the pictures help to better understand the content. Who said that fairy tales are only for children? It can be interesting at any age, and given the way fairy tales are written, it’s a great way to learn the language gradually and in a fun way.
- Make plans or keep a diary in English
This is a great opportunity to write down your goals and dreams in another language. Who knows, maybe it will take you to a new level of life, because to a new language level – for sure.
No matter which method you choose, the main thing is that you like it and find it interesting, because otherwise no forces will force you to learn. Mark your successes in a calendar or habit tracker, and don’t forget to praise yourself and reward yourself with small prizes (it doesn’t have to be chocolates, you can buy yourself new books, notebooks or nice stickers / postcards). Such a small motivation will help not to go astray, but on the contrary, to devote more time to English every day.
